Oath Taking Ceremony of Kamyab Jawan programme’s National Youth Council
Oath Taking Ceremony for the new members of National Youth Council (NYC) under PM’s Kamyab Jawan programme has taken place in Islamabad today. Mr. Asad Umer, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives joined the proceedings of the ceremony as a Chief Guest and administered oath taken by NYC members. NYC members took oath to work for the interests of young people of Pakistan with zest and zeal and strive for the growth and development of youth. The chief guest Mr. Asad Umer, while speaking to the participants, emphasized on the significance of youth engagement initiatives and suggested that National Youth Council needs to be utilized to enhance engagement with the young people from across Pakistan. “The amount of young talent we have in subcontinent, doesn’t exist in rest of the world. Youth is an exceptional gift for us.” Remarked Asad Umer He further commented that only young people can better understand the problems and issues related to youth so their participation should be ensured in all youth related affairs. “I want their full participation in decision making, they should be involved in the formation of youth related policies.” emphasized Asad Umer Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar attended the event and spoke to the participants. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Asad Umer for believing in the power of youth and extending constant guidance and encouragement in regard to youth development. SAPM welcomed and encouraged NYC members and pledged to provide access to the power corridors of government at federal, provincial and local level enabling them to participate constructively in decision making as the representative of Pakistani youth. “It is the first merit based youth council at national level with the members selected purely on the basis of their achievements.” said Usman Dar. “The members of NYC should present themselves as the role model for the youth of Pakistan and it is our responsibility to remove obstacles in their path.” stated Usman Dar SAPM on Youth Affairs thanked the international partner UNFPA for their financial and technical support and School of Leadership for making the engagement plan for national youth council and making it a productive platform.
