European Union to Collaborate with Pakistan on Youth Development
Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, H.E. Jean-François Cautain called on Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs to discuss various avenues of cooperation for youth empowerment and development in Pakistan. Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar briefed the Ambassador on his Government’s vision for the socio-economic uplift of young people. He also discussed with him his Government’s proposed initiatives in this regard like launching of National Youth Development Framework (NYDF), constitution of National Youth Council (NYC), holding of first-ever National Youth Development Index (NYDI) survey to gauge development needs of youth at district level, and the introduction of pro-youth legislation in the Parliament to establish a sustainable institution, National Youth development Programme (NYDP), for initiating all youth development initives in the country. H.E. Jean-François Cautain shed light on EU’s role in improving quality of rechnical and vocational training in Pakistan, as EU is one of the largest donors of GIZ-funded TVET sector reform programme in Pakistan, in order to make vocational training demand-driven and more rewarding. Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar appreciated the European Union’s commitment for working with Pakistan on socio-economic empowerment of youth.
