Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Programme to Launch a Robust Internship Programme
Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs held a meeting with Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination; and Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman Higher Education Commission to discuss contours of Prime Minister’s Internship Programme. It was agreed in the meeting that the Prime Minister’s Internship Programme would introduce a sustainable and productive mechanism to address unemployment of educated youth. It was decided that linkages would be created between private sector organizations/companies and educational institutions/universities to offer mandatory internships to graduate-level university students. This practical training would enhance the employability of fresh graduates, as they would be preferred for employment in their respective internship organizations. Moreover, it was discussed in the meeting that other successful international models would also be consulted while devising a more impactful and sustainable internship programme for postgraduate students in the country under the aegis of Prime Minister Kamyab Jawan Programme. Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar thanked Dr. Fehmida Mirza and Dr. Tariq Banuri for their valuable input to design a robust and effective internship programme for the youth.
